LEP COOKIES

 

(This recipe was given to me by my mother-in-law.  She got the recipe from her mother.  This was a family favorite during the holiday season.  You will notice that the quantities are huge as the recipe makes quite a few dozen of cookies.  They would place them down in a big can and they stayed moist & fresh for many days.)

 

1 qt. Sugar                               3 T soda

1 qt. Molasses                         3 T. cinnamon

1 qt. Lard                                 3 T. salt

1 qt. Buttermilk                       3 T. allspice

1 qt. Nuts                                 1 qt. raisins

 

Mix all ingredients togther and refrigerator overnight or longer.  Before baking add 6 lb. flour. 

 

                        Drop by rounded teaspoon on to greased cookie sheet.

                        Bake for 9 – 11 min. at 350 degrees.
