The Gift
Goes On
by
Alberta Fisher
The song by Sandi
Patti, “The Gift Goes On”, can be played before the devotion is given.
I.
Father gave the Son
Isaiah 9:6 – For a child will be
born to us, a son will be given to us; And the
government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful,
Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Luke
2:7 – And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she
wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for
them in the inn.
II.
The Son gave the Spirit
John 16:7 – But I tell you the truth, it is to your
advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to
you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
III.
The Spirit gives us life
II Corinthians 4:6 –
Who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but
of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
IV.
We can give the Gift of Love
John 13:35 – By this all men will know that you are my
disciples, if you have love for one another.
V.
Love Each Other
I Timothy 1:5 – But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere
faith.
I John 4:7 – Beloved,
let us love one another, for love is from God, and every one who loves is born
of God and knows God.
Colossians 3:14 – And beyond all these
thins put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
Love isn’t love until you give
it away – let’s give it away all during the year!
(A small gift may
be purchased to be given to one individual.
Have ladies stand in a circle and play the song, “The Gift Goes
On”. Ever time the word “on” is
mentioned, the gift should be passed to the next person to their right. The individual with the gift at the end of
the song should keep it.)
