What Kind of a Fighter Are
You?
by
Rev. Richard Fisher
This is the time of year that many are
fighting the battle of the bulge. Someone has said, “Dieting is a losing
battle.” I came across a man who was
fighting this battle.
You
may be like the guy that decided it was time to shed some excess pounds. He
took his new diet seriously, even changing his driving route to avoid his
favorite bakery. One morning, however, he arrived at work carrying a gigantic
coffee cake. Everyone scolded him, but he just smiled. "This is a very
special coffee cake," he explained. "I accidentally drove by the
bakery this morning and there in the window were a host of goodies. I felt this
was no accident, so I prayed, ’Lord, if you want me to have one of those
delicious coffee cakes, let me have a parking place directly in front of the
bakery.’ And sure enough," he continued, "the eighth time around the
block, there it was!"
The Apostle Paul gave his all in serving the Lord. He said,
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the
faith." II Timothy 4:7. One of the
ways we can serve God is by sharing the gospel and inviting people to our church.
Sharing the gospel can be difficult.
Paul had many hardships but he continued on. As he looked back on his life, he
was able to say, “I have fought the good fight”. As we reflect on our service to God, what
will we be able to say?
